Mark Snow X-Files Soundtrack Released

Today sees the long-awaited and much-anticipated release of Mark Snow’s 4-disc soundtrack of his score from the television series run of The X-Files — filled with a wealth of never-before released material — by La La Land Records. Clocking in at a massive running time of 311 minutes, it contains music from "Pilot” all the way up to the series finale The Truth” with many much lauded stops along the way, including a personal — and fan — favourite in Scullys Serenade” from the beginning of Season Eight. Full tracklisting and details on how to order are available at La La Land Records’ product listing. The release is limited to 3,000 copies, retails for the very reasonable price of $49.98 and, as if that were not enough, early orders will be autographed by Mark Snow whilst supplies last.

And just take a look at that photo. Not only will this set boast over 5 hours of blissful music from across all nine seasons of the series but it is a thing of beauty, with much care having gone into its design. It also comes with an extensive booklet which includes the article There’s Something Out There The Meeting of Mythology and Music in The X-Files” by film music journalist Randall D. Larson. It’s an absolute must-have for fans of Mark’s highly influential music, which was of course also such a pivotal piece of the jigsaw in the style and tone of Millennium. And not only is this the most definitive release of music from The X-Files to date, but it is tantalisingly subtitled Volume I, hinting at the possibility of more releases in the future. In fact, plans are already afoot to release Volume II next year.

Rest assured I will be ordering a copy the very moment it comes on sale, and I urge you all to do the same since — just like the superb Millennium 2-disc set that came before it — this title will undoubtedly sell out fast.

Millennium Movie Poster Project: The Winners!

Well, the time is now. We are now extremely excited to reveal the winners of the Millennium Movie Poster Project! We're doing this in style too, as we exclusively bring together judges Lance Henriksen, Klea Scott and Mark Snow for an extra special podcast to discuss their choices. And you can listen to that right here.

Also summing up those deliberations, we have another stylish video from the wonderful Joselyn Rojas, so you can see those winning designs once again. Enjoy!

Congratulations, then, to our worthy overall winners. And yes, as Lance also revealed in the podcast, everyone who entered is a winner with this competition, and that somehow seems apt. We've also updated the Gallery Showcase to credit all the artists too, as promised, so be sure to go back and take another look at their work.

So all that's left is for Brian A. Dixon and I to thank everyone for taking part: from our top three winners to all the other entrants, to Lance, Klea and Mark for taking the time to consider and discuss them, and Lance in particular for also providing such great prizes, to Joselyn for all the snazzy visuals she provided to accompany the project, and of course to James and Troy for co-ordinating people behind the scenes, as always.

It's been huge fun and also a tantalising glimpse into so many incarnations that a Millennium movie could take, and everyone here at Back to Frank Black will be sure to bring you further such exciting projects very, very soon...

Millennium Movie Poster Project: Winners Announcement Coming Soon!

We're planning a very special announcement for the winners of the Millennium Movie Poster Project, in the form of a podcast no less, featuring our judges Lance Henriksen, Klea Scott and Mark Snow revealing their choices. Schedules allowing, that should happen over the next week or so, and we'll post it here just as soon as we can thereafter.

Do rest assured that the results are in, the prizes signed and ready to be shipped and that we're just keeping you in suspense for a little while longer for the sake of what will be an exciting revelation of all the winners. So watch out for that special podcast right here at Back to Frank Black very, very soon.

Happy Birthday, Mark Snow!

A special Happy Birthday to the campaign's dear friend Mark Snow! All at BacktoFrankBlack wish him a very happy day!

There Are An Extra 7 Days Remaining

Following hard on the announcement of the superb prizes on offer for the winners of the Millennium Movie Poster Project, we are pleased to be able to extend the deadline for entries by a week. In order to offer sufficient time for all interested artists to compose their entries, we will now be accepting poster submissions until September 4th.

We have an esteemed panel of judges for the competition: Klea Scott, Mark Snow, and Lance Henriksen himself. This really is a unique opportunity to have your art considered by some of the leading talents to have worked on Millennium.

This competition offers you the chance to make your own visions of a Millennium movie into reality in the form of a poster design. The canvas is entirely your own in terms of format and content, so let your imagination run wild!

Please submit your entry or entries as either a JPEG or a PDF file(s) by e-mail to info@backtofrankblack.com. Be sure that your subject line reads “Millennium Movie Poster Project” and that the e-mail includes both your name and address.

There are 13 days remaining.

Millennium Movie Poster Project: The (Other) Judge

It's day two of the Millennium Movie Poster Project, and we're so excited to be able to announce a second judge for the competition. Another huge talent from the Millennium pantheon, it is none other than Ten Thirteen music supremo Mark Snow.

Mark will aid Lance Henriksen in judging the results of the Millennium Movie Poster Project, and we're extremely grateful to them both in taking the time to judge your entries. With this opportunity to present your ideas to two of the artists whose unique vision helped to shape Millennium, the time is now to begin crafting your own poster design! Details on how to enter the competition are as per yesterday's blog post.

There are 34 days remaining.

LUMINARY WEEK DAY THREE: The Stars Converge!

As you will no doubt be aware, Lance is a supporter of many charities and has asked BacktoFrankBlack to set-up a charity auction with proceeds to go to an organization that looks after the well-being of children.

BacktoFrankBlack contacted Caileigh Scott from charity organizers IBG, a group inspired themselves by the charity work of X-Files actress Gillian Anderson, and have begun work on an event which will use Millennium merchandise to raise money for a children's charity.

The event will be held online at www.ebay.com on the 9th December 2009. Bidding will open on the available items from 9am PST/12pm EST/5pm GMT.

BacktoFrankBlack has contacted many of the cast & crew of the Millennium TV show to aid us in acquiring items to auction and the response has been excellent. Highlighted items that will be up for bidding include Lance Henriksen's two Saturn awards and one of his three Golden Globe nominations for his role as Frank Black on Millennium!

Lance will also be offering autographed scripts from his extensive career. Also in the auction will be the Millennium theme sheet music signed by composer Mark Snow and autographed photos from actresses Sarah-Jane Redmond and Klea Scott. There will also be show props and crew memorabilia being donated. A list of all items and their donators will be made at a later date.

All proceeds will go to the organization Children of the Night (http://www.childrenofthenight.org) - an organization devoted to helping children forced into prostitution.

As we gather items and information, we will pass on when and where the auction will take place. Please keep checking our website and IBG's website for more information.
