As you are no doubt aware, BackToFrankBlack is now one year older (you can debate amongst yourselves if we are any the wiser) and our resident Scorsese, Josef Gunnarsson is treating us to not one but two videos this week to mark the occasion. Josef has turned his attention to The Yellow House which very much became an entity in its own right for fans of the franchise. Every celebration deserves a toast so pour yourself a glass of whatever you have to hand, toast all those, yourselves included, involved in this campaign and raise your glasses to Josef Gunnarsson and all his tireless support and enthusiasm. Bottoms up!
Joining Lisa, and many others, in sending postcards to Fox (click here for the address) is the single best way you can help this campaign achieve its ends. Recent news has brought our goal well within our sights. Lance Henriksen is prepared, as we speak, to join Chris Carter to discuss the future of the franchise and we need you to keep up the pressure on Fox to support their intentions.

Mark, thanks again for a super nice blog.
Very cool postcard, really reminds me of one version of the cover for Videodrome.
I was hoping the text was in more context to the Pilot, like William Butler Yeats' poem featured in the episode, for instance...but that's just me. :)
Now I must acknowledge, that I'm experiencing technical difficulties surrounding the DVD ripping. And I'm trying to get that sorted out as soon as possible. I've been searching for an alternative, but it looks like I have to settle with VOB conversion, which is frustrating, having to convert parts of video I have no need for. I really want to convert DVD chapters, no need for trimming :/
There's a video ready for Monday, but after that, is up to me to figure this out.
Unless people can give me some suggestions, good programs that are perhaps even free or good enough to pay for.
Thanks.
Cheers from Iceland!

Josef,
Here's my thing: I have less of a tech-savy brain than most but have you checked out Fairuse Wizard. I have used this many moons ago and I am sure you can select which part of the VOB file to convert and there is a free version of the program which is very, very simple to use (it would have to be or I wouldn't have gone near it.) Maybe this could help you out?
Awesome video as always!
Wow, fantastic video. Thank you Josef.
Once again a great video from Josef and I do hope you can get your problems sorted, youtube would be a Millennium-free zone without them. It's been great to have a regular release of these every week and it would be a real shame if you had to stop for any reason.
Keep up the good work. I will write my postcard this instance!
Mark, thanks for the suggestion, I have downloaded it, and installed it.
Will check it out after work.
More suggestions are more than welcome.
Cheers from Iceland!

Love the video.Always good to see some of the better moments of the Yellow House. Will toast with a cup of black coffee this morning.
Now, what I was going for was showing both good and bad things that happened under the roof and around the Yellow House. The mundane and extraordinary things that happened there. From joy and happiness to dispair and anger.
Although, I did limit myself to footage that I already had, and only from the first four episodes.
I know I could have done better, if I had more time to do that one, and if I had more Yellow House footage from other episodes, but I just hadn't ripped those episodes from season 1 where it was featured heavily.

Yet another very cool video. Long live the yellow house!
★☆Absolutely love it★☆
The Yellow House was so symbolic, it was Frank's fortress against the forces of darkness and removing him from it in season two really signalled the shape of things to come.
I love all the hope you see on the faces of Frank, Catherine and Jordan when they arrive at the house for the first time and we all know how it all ended for them. So sad.
Another great one and I really hope you get everything sorted. I'm worried my Mondays won't be the same.
You're certainly find of your chilling endings Josef. I thought Catherine was doing far too much smiling in one video to not have it end on an ominous note and you did not disappoint. Please, please, please do another easter egg in the future like you did with the ending of Lucy Butler video. I've been waiting ever since for something to happen at the end of the credits. You've made me want more.
Wonderful stuff.
great video tribute! i really enjoyed that. best one I've seen from Josef, and only one that resonates with me. very metaphorical/ meta-textual, as well as magnificently composed. and that's not even as good as you could make it?
Thanks Sean and George.
Sean, I probably would have used one of many Frank pondering shot outside the porch and Catherine coming outside to see what's up. But thankfully, I had enough material to work with, because I was on a deadline. And I had been thinking about this video for a long time, and as I do the episodic/caharcter videos I'm more focusing on other stuff, so the Yellow House stuff was tossed aside, if there were any. I included shots from The Judge, as I had the whole episode, from when I was struggling to come up with something with that one...maybe it will come to me later.
And George, it just came out that way, I had forgotten about this ticking clock, and so it seemed to fit to have it along side that scene. I always work my way from the beginning, you can't do it any other way.
And...surprise ending? You'll never know when one will pop up next ;)
But obviously I have to get back on track, I'll update the status on the video that will come on Monday. This is very frustrating for me, I had chapters planned to rip, and was gonna rip a few episodes that I have my eye on. And this happens...Curse of Frank Black? maybe...

I have to agree with all the postings so far. Another excellent video. I like that you used the yellow house as the central theme. Hard to believe that the equipment wasn't working the way you wanted. Sure couldn't tell it. I've been stuck in a Midnight of the Century mode lately. I realized the other day that Franks childhood home is yellow. Some sort of symbolism perhaps?
As for the Curse of Frank Black, this you to shall overcome. Hope the program Mark suggested works for you.
Keep up the excellent work. You are indeed the resident Scorcese of BTFB!!!
This Is Who We Are!!

I know I haven't been very vocal so far but it would be a crying shame if Josef could not overcome technical difficulties and continue to contribute to the campaign. I follow everything you guys do, mostly through facebook and youtube and it was one of Josef's videos that led me to the campaign. I send postcards, I promise, in return for all the entertainment but I do hope the videos will continue. The Lara video is just bliss. I do hope for more!
Josef gets a cult following it seems, and rightly so. Enjoy the praise!
Loved the video Josef! I really loved the Depeche Mode too. Anytime you want to incorporate more haunting 80's music like Tears for Fears, The Smiths, The Cure and the like go right ahead. Keep them coming.
Cathi, thanks for that, I really didn't know that I have brought so many people to the campaign.
I'm really interested to hear what videos people saw for the first time when they decided to follow the link in the video, and decided to stick around for all the goodies backtofrankblack.com has to offer.
One by one, we are legion, for we are many.

This is the first MM video Josef has created which I have watched.
I liked the music. Reminded me of The Human League. I was surprised but interested all the same when I read at the end it was by Depeche Mode.
I watched the pilot episode in full for the first time on Friday night. It just whizzed by those 44 minutes.
The yellow house is such an iconic image, like Frank's red cherokee car.
Thanks Wave_Crest for the comment.
Yep, the song is from the 1986 album Black Celebration.
I like Human League as well, even own Dare on vinyl :D
And I hope you will find time to watch the other music videos...and even comment ;)

I told you I would get to comment on your video and it was so very good Josef... I really loved it.. you always seem to pick the right song to go along with your video too. The yellow house was like a character in itself. It was bright, warm, and full of love and then slowly withered and died!!
