MORGAN AND WONG WEEK: DAY 1 - THE BEGINNING AND THE END

MORGAN and WONG week kicks off today! And where better to start that with Millennium's second season début episode: The Beginning and the End!

This episode, based around the abduction of Catherine Black, began Glen Morgan and James Wong's tenure as show producers and saw some slight changes to Millennium's core concepts. First and foremost was the nature of the Millennium Group itself - taking it away from its depiction as a law enforcement consultation firm in season one, to a deep rooted cult with a dark mythological origin and an apocalyptic vision of the world's end for season two.

Today we celebrate the Beginning and the End for its rich dialogue, bleak vision and shocking events that would forever change the world of Frank Black.

So we have two special gifts for you. The first is Video Avatar - Millennium fan Josef Gunnarsson works his music/video montage magic around The Beginning and the End. Thank you for sending this wonderful piece of work. Enjoy this exclusive and special video. As always, copyrights go to their respected owners, no infringement intended. This is for fan fun only!

Second, we have a brand new postcard, a vehicle for your message to FOX - to help Chris and Lance bring back Millennium! This postcard will be the first of many that are aimed to reflect the new branding of BacktoFrankBlack. Use it to send a request to FOX, or simply just to send to friends.

Has to be one of my favourite fan videos. Josef's timing between music and video is spot on. There's one shot where Frank is in the bedroom and even his blinking seems to hit the beat (check it out - tis true!).

Wonderful, simply wonderful.

Thanks guys.

James, even I didn't spot that. That's so millenniumistic.

Now, for an example of my Frank Black Celebration video, there were instances of how it seemed that I edited it especially for the beat, the little things that Frank blinks or there were those flashes when the burning man was in the woods, those were accidental, but I noticed that while editing and kept them.

But for this one, I was more trying to tie the lyrics to specific parts of the episode. It was a good fit, me thinks.

I even reversed the close up of Peter Watts to make the cut match more, as I try to avoid having characters speak in my videos, most of the time.

And the beginning of the video, no edits, it just fitted the beat for the most part plus some movements of Frank Black. I did however cut Catherine from the showdown, to make it more intense, more ugly, as Frank did become the horror, when his heart was engulfed in darkness. He crossed the thin white line, and lost his goodness that Catherine believed in him.

Cheers from Iceland!

Hooray! For my money the second season of Millennium is one of the greatest single seasons of television ever produced.

Season 2... changing the Group wasn't something I liked much ... but I loved Lara Means and Owls/Roosters is one of my top eppies! This episode was pretty kool though. That video jogged my memory lol!

A great reminder of this episode - a defining one in terms of the direction Millennium would take in Season Two. It fits so well with where the show left off with Paper Dove at the end of Season One, but at the same time it really set out the stall for Morgan & Wong's tone and narrative.

I should add that I welcomed the shift also; I still enjoy all three seasons of Millennium, and Season Two could have just easily have been more similar in tone and content to Season One and still worked. But there's something about Season Two that for me transcended everything else and examined some of the big questions that were surely hinted at from the show's premise in bold and dramatic ways.

There are many highlights for me throughout the season, but this episode is one of them. Josef's great video has me aching to watch "The Beginning and the End" all over again... and it's not even been that long since I last did so as it is!

great video! maybe my 2nd fave that Josef has made. i think his video editing skills have improved since he began these fan vids.

MM season 2 defined the series for me... i adore the direction Morgan and Wong took the show. "The Beginning and the End" is a fantastic intro to second season.
and this vid is a good intro to M&W Week.

Also, i really like to new visual tone of the site graphics.
