Hey guys.

A very nice podcast, while not very deep. It was fun and that was the goal of this podcast.

Very much liked the blooper about Mark becoming the DVD boxset of Millennium. I was so sure Troy was gonna ask James if anyone was then actually caressing this different form of Mark.

I have to go with James on Thirteen Years Later...

I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I agree with Troy about the couch scene where Frank Black is profiling the villains in the slasher films. As a horror fan I get it, that it's making fun and also paying respect to horror films, but what gets to me is the line of Frank Black saying a few times something like this: "Someone is making me go insane, for the third time in my life". Frank doesn't speak like this, I know that it's revealed as a story from the killer.

That's my two cents for now.

ps: I'm even thinking about going to Chicago, if it doesn't look like it will be that much of a hassle getting from JFK to Chicago. It sounds very cool.

Don't be dark!
Cheers from Iceland!

Been following you guys for some time, big fan of Lance and his Pumpkinhead flicks, Milennium also. Keep up the good work, another enjoyable podcast. Maybe it is little old me but a little too much emphasis on Season Three so far, Omerta and Thirteen Years Later get repeated mentions despite not being all bells and whistles in my view. Would be nice to see some season one make the grade, season two too. Agree with the dude above, not deep, could do without the season three plugs when the good comedy was in season two but enjoyable on the whole.

I understand it's hard doing a podcast and you forget stuff.
And it's often good to keep a podcast focused on one or few episodes. And since the topic was humor they wanted it to be a more looser feel to it, not as scripted, not as prepared as the other ones. So, anything left out is in my mind understandable and forgivable.

Now, they can go back to this comedy theme again. And with further interviews they will get to highlight other episodes.

They can't please everybody, I realize that. I still gobble it all up and can't wait for the next one. I mean, I was in agony because I realized there was no podcast LAST Sunday, major relapse my friends, I'm an addict.

And if anything needed addressed from season one, it must be "Loin Like a Hunting Flame". I loved that local Detective who wasn't very comfortable with the sexual nature of that case, and the banter with Frank Black and the woman from the Millennium Group who was paired up with Frank.

And the brilliant creation of Roedecker, from the minds of Morgan and Wong. They brought a lot to the table, that you would never associate with Millennium if you were only familiar with season one.

Plus, "The Hand of Saint Sebastian", I loved that German Detective, who loved American cop shows. While I didn't know all those shows he was a fan of I still thought it was funny.

And then there were always little bits of dark humor sprinkled throughout all three seasons.

I can't conceal my excitement for the next podcast. When I reviewed that documentary on S3 DVD, I saw that Klea was so game about Millennium and was very talkative. So, I'm very psyched about this podcast.

While season three may be the least of the three seasons in my mind, I still think of it as good television. I do appreciate that the seasons had different flavors, so to speak. What if The X-Files movie was never made? Would we have been numbed by all the dark cases Frank would have each week? We can't think like that. Season three happened and it's a part of Millennium. We should not ignore it while the majority of people dislike it more than the other seasons. In many ways, I think season three is more interesting in seeing how they had to deal with season two.

But to truly be fair, they and we should be talking about all the episodes, the great ones, the good ones, and the ones we don't like for some reason.

If you're a Millennium fan you should stand by them all. Not wipe out a season and think it didn't happen a la George Lucas or Superman Returns.

Just like you said in the podcast, if you had more time, you could talk more about Millennium and cover more episodes.

Maybe I'm sounding a bit defensive here, I'm not trying to pick a fight, I respect other people's opinion. But these guys are doing this for free. And while, yeah, they could have talked about other funny episodes. Millennium is so dense, they can do 100 podcasts and still be scratching the surface. I'm just grateful for having found this site. We love you guys, but we nitpick as well. They always listen and bounce back to accommodate us. They will get to those moments, those scenes, those episodes eventually...and we'll be listening.

This is who we are.

Hi guys,

In regards to season three, there is no attempt to focus on it. The reason it pops up at the moment is two fold:

1. We have to admit it, Troy loves season three, so we possibly do fall a little foul to bias.
2. From all the actors and crew we contact, strangely, season three gets the biggest response. We have Jon Polito in the can (amazingly funny guy), Klea Scott and Keegan Connor Tracey - all just happened to respond!

That being said, I would hope that in this episode, the interview with Austin balances that out, and our focus on Somehow Satan Got Behind Me (we had spoken a little about Jose Cheung in a previous one). Plus season one got the attention for the first two podcasts (The Pilot and The Judge).

While we have more season three interviews on the way (the wonderful Klea Scott special next weekend) our next regular episode will focus specifically on one episode, Loin Like A Hunting Flame, and will have the Michael Buie interview.

That's not to say I'm just going to "defend" ourselves on this. The point has been noted, and we'll do our best to ensure that season one and two get the focus that in my opinion, they truly deserve.

Next episodes won't be as light as well. Must say, this was my favourite podcast to do so far.

Thanks for the feedback. Josef - Chicago would be awesome!

I can see were people are coming from. That leaning toward Season 3 is definitely my fault and I will do better at spreading the Millennium love. That being said, the first 2 podcasts dealt with Season 1 and the last podcast primarily dealt with episodes from Season 2. I just have a tendency to bring up Sesson 3 as it is often forgotten in board chat. James is right, we have contacted people from all seasons, but the Season 3 people have been the ones to respond the most so far. Don't know why that is, but it's just what has been hahppening. Bottom line is, we want to do a show that everyone will enjoy. As Josef said, you can't make everybody happy. :)

Hey guys,

I don't care what episode or what season you are talking about I love you both and think you are doing a fantastic job! You have brought back the love we all feel for Millennium and for Frank Black and the attention it so deserves. Keep up the good work!

p.s. love you like a friend love, not like the creepy stalker type.hehe :)

Hey guys,

Just to address those who are concerned that the campaign may place emphasis on certain seasons, rest assured we relish your comments and in addressing them please don't feel we are not taking on board your views, but, this is a multifaceted body of work when all said and done, the podcast is an aspect of it, not that by which it is defined. One of the first supporters of this campaign was Kristen Cloke, we are working to bring unreleased scripts from Season Two to you right now. If you view the written interviews you will see contributions from Tobias Mehler (Luminary), Doug Hutchison (The Beginning and the End), Tucker Smallwood (Goodbye Charlie) and we are working with Malcolm Stewart (Owls), Mary-Pat Green (In Arcadia Ego), Michael R Perry (writer of Mikado and more) to bring you more Season Two goodies as well as trying our hardest to complement, and add to, the Season One goodies already on offer.

That said, we only grow, and improve, if you direct us. Don't feel we are downplaying your concerns, we will attend to them, but as a stalwart of Millennium fandom I hope you will share with me the view that Millennium is what it is. Whilst Season Three may not be it's finest hour, in some people's opinions, it is still Millennium and our goal is treat this body of work as it should be treated.

We take what we can, when we can, from the good people who offer their time to us. We thank you for your support and hope you will continue to share with us your views :)

Since the campaign is ongoing (let's hope we don't have to wait until our kids are running it 'cause Lance will be 92 by then!), you take what interviews are available - and thanks to all who have said yes! - which means there might be a temporary emphasis on a particular season.

Having said that, I enjoy season three immensely. I don't get why it receives such a bad rap. The first might be, for my money, the greatest single season of non-Simpsons teevee ever, but three has some brilliant episodes, so I certainly don't mind hearing from those involved.

James McLean said... June 16, 2009 at 8:22 AM

I agree Randal. Maybe I'm just a liberal old git, but I love all the seasons because they are all so different, and I really enjoy the content and tone of season 3.

Well, we have the Klea podcast next week and I'm sure she'll be reading this blog to see what you have to say - and I hope we can show her the appreciation that she and season three deserves. Because even if the stories don't quite float your boat, I don't think there can be any denial that the production, acting and stories of season 3 are all very high quality for television.

Spooktalklaura said... June 16, 2009 at 8:55 AM

"Can't we all just get along?" "Don't be hatin" Aren't we all just here for one common goal and interest, Millennium and to bring Frank Black back? I think we should appreciate James and Troy's time and effort that goes into their podcast, coming from a fellow podcaster I can tell you it is hard work and time consuming and yes you take the interviews you can get and you appreciate everyone of them. So, Klea if you are reading this I can tell you I appreciate your time and my husband does too! :)

What's all this talk about too much emphasis on season 3 anyway, it was great, I thought I was the only one on the planet that loved season 2 and thought it was the best! :) haha

This one is very intriguing to say the least. As for all the chatter about the different seasons, they are just like Millennium, each one stands on its own merit. If all the seasons were the same, we would not have had a chance to explore all the intricacies of the series. I like all the episodes, a few better than others.
But, each to his own.
THIS IS WHO WE ARE!

Rodecker just installed Talkshoe on my computer. For some reason, I have to tell it, "It's my gift, it's my curse" before it will load, but hey, at least I don't have to say, "Open the pod bay doors please HAL."

;)
