Ladies and gentlemen it's time, once again, for our masked avenger, wrestlemaniac and super powered reviewer DiRT to cast his x-ray vision upon another episode of Millennium and direct his considerable following in our direction in the process.
Glen Morgan and James Wong originally wanted Darin Morgan to contribute to their show, Space: Above and Beyond but Darin declined their offer surprising them both by showing an interest in writing for Millennium when the two became the show's showrunners. Fearing that his quirky style would be ill at ease with Millennium's bleak canvas they tentatively gave him the opportunity. Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense and Somehow Satan Got Behind Me were the results. Over to DiRT to see what he made of the former.....
As always, every new video we add to Youtube, or is added to Youtube for us, reaches out to a whole new audience and may find a Millennium who never knew of our campaign in the process. Don't forget, keep sending those letters and postcards to Mr. Steve Asbell.
As always, lend your considerable support to the man and go visit his own websites and find out what it's all about. Remember, every video made for the this campaign is an indispensable way of reaching out to a potential new campaigner.

Great review DiRT but bear with me whilst I tell you why I absolutely adore this episode in spades.
The "Lance Henriksen in the role of Frank Black in the role of Rocket McGrain" fantasy is just breathtaking! Stephen James Lang showed in this episode that he would be a terrific comedian: I'll never forget this "anti-pron feminist lesbian" thing! And his dry response to the question of this Selfosophy guy "Are you aware how often you use negatively-associated words?" as he answers (in a very negatively-associated way): "Oh, no, I don't neither." I love this scene. Can you imagine someone else use three negations in a sentence of 5 words and still be convincing?
Maybe it wasn't Millennium as we knew it but you have to hand it to Darin Morgan, no-one writes like he does and I mean that purely as compliment!
fun video but i LOVE this episode. great writing and thought it was great that they didn't take the show too seriously that they couldn't poke fun at themselves and related things.
Man, DiRT, you are harsh about this one, of all the ones you have reviewed so far.
But I do understand your stance on the episode and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
It's a fact that the Darin Morgan episodes are outside the Millennium box. But I think the beauty lies in there, no other show could make this transition. Having all these strange episodes in Season 2 that deviated from the "norm".
"Luminary" was a very differnt episode, as were "The Curse of Frank Black" and "Midnight of the Century". I'm actually greatful that they tried something different, since another season of season 1 would be overkill, much like I feel X-Files was doing at the time.
You can almost look at it like this: Frank Black in another dimension, everyone's the same person but with different personalities. Ahhh...Sliders...Fox had to ruin a good show...Tru Calling...Fox! Get with the program and support good TV shows. Don't listen to ratings, if they would stop showing these football games people would know when the next episode would play (or has that changed?).
Sorry for that rant...so many good TV shows get cancelled just after a few episodes, it's appalling really.
At least we can enjoy the DVDs and continue to think of all that could have beens.
ps: I totally agree with what Cathi said, so I don't have to repeat that.

Dirt you almost were at a loss for words! ;) I agree with you though, the episode was good but I didn't really like it and was not one of my favorites. :( Good video though! :)

I'm surprised DiRT didn't like this episode but to each their own, I'm loving his reviews though I must say. A real character and a joy to watch.
"Jose Chung..." is one of the hardest times I've laughed while watching television and it was at the end of the episode:
"Don't try, you'll never make it!"
"Not with that attitude I won't!
Bliss!
While i thought the episode was excellent, it still isnt better than the X Files one. The X Files one was seriously one of the best episodes of tv ever made. Still though, this one was so good its stands up pretty high as well.
DiRT shame on you lol - first time I felt compelled to post at this Blog. Hello everyone!
This episode is my all time favorite Millennium episode. Lance's crotch punch had me in stitches.
I also liked the cheeky David Duchovney poster on the wall of the Selfosophist's office. i've been trying to remember other X-Files references but could only come up with 3:
1. jose chung's doomsday defense - the david duchovney poster
2. 4th horseman (I think) - it's when Peter Watts steals the old man's belongings from some basement and notices a Morley cigarette butt on the floor.
3. through a glass, darkly OR human essence from season 3 - I can't recall offhand if it's either of these episodes but there's a scene where frank black is pursuing a suspect in some apartment complex and one of the tenants is watching the x-files episode "Killswitch".....you can heary Scully in the background.
are there any others?
Anyhow - great episode and great review though i don't agree with all of it. I love this place and feel sorry for taking so long to contribute :(
George, that was one of the things I thought was so funny, when the guy jumped.
What I found funny about it, was the fact he didn't even get very far.

I found this episode a bit annoying at times--I'm really not a Charles Nelson Reilly fan sadly but there was more hilarity in this episode than real drama. I found the image of a Blonde Frank Black to be very disturbing and couldn't keep from laughing at this. This is one of those episodes where you need to watch it more than one time to pick up on all of the little things placed into the background and insinuated . Before noticing anything else, I IMMEDIATELY noticed the book on the shelf with the stripper and the "blood dimmed tide" title. I love it when writers do stuff like this. Reminds me of a Stephen King novel.
Thanks again DiRT for a good review. I must agree with you that Jose Chung is not one of my favorite episodes but it is one of the funnier ones. I like the part where Frank acts like "Mike Hammer". Wonder what Stacy Keach would think? Oh yeah, and the direct hit at Selfosophy...LOL
Again, thanks for the review.

One of my favorite episodes. I don't know what I could say that would change Dirt's mind.Perhaps watching it after a few alcoholic beverages,it worked for me with 13 Years Later.
Loved it. Almost as good as the X-Files Jose Chung episode. Though not as good as the Satan ep of Millennium, I love Morgan's writing.
David how many alcoholic beverages would you advise for a viewing of "...Thirteen Years Later" - I await your recommendation ;)
Mark, I would advise to start with one(bottle, glass, etc)and imbibe until as happy as a Selfosophist.Beware not to over indulge to the point of headbanging to Kiss, as that may induce vomiting.
Hey
I disagree with DiRT review. I love this episode it wasn´t so depressing as usually, it is one of the most funniest episode of Millennium.
"oh, Don't be dark"

FINALLY! I got you guys (and gals) talking and coming out of the woodwork to comment! If I have to say I don't like an episode to get you to leave comments, my next video will be about how bad the pilot episode is! ;)
Oh n9, don't think. I love your videos. You can praise or condemn as much as you like and I will still enjoy them. Maybe I should comment more. The Pilot as bad episode? This I must have to see. I make apologies if my English is not the best but I love your videos. Many more please.
