Here's Dirt's Thing: SATURN DREAMING OF MERCURY!

Ladies and gentlemen it's time, once again, for our masked avenger, wrestlemaniac and super powered reviewer DiRT to cast his x-ray vision upon another episode of Millennium and direct his considerable following in our direction in the process.

DiRT has served up another enjoyable review, against the odds I might add as it would seem Lucy Butler has served up some demonic weather conditions where he is so we are all the more grateful to him for taking the time to share his thoughts on Saturn Dreaming of Mercury.

After something of a mixed beginning to Millennium Season Three, stories like Saturn Dreaming of Mercury went on to establish themselves as fan favourites, garnering much praise for continuing to develop the fascinating relationship between Frank and Jordan and giving fans another excuse to gaze upon Lucy Butler, albeit very briefly. If I had a pound for every time a fan had asked what the title means then it's fair to say I would be a rich man. I'll let you guys speculate as you see fit in the comments section. Over to DiRT and his point of view...

So is he right or is he wrong? Tell us your opinion of this oft debated episode and don't hold back, we're big fans, we can take it.

As always, every new video we add to Youtube, or is added to Youtube for us, reaches out to a whole new audience and may find a Millennium who never knew of our campaign in the process. Don't forget, keep sending those letters and postcards to Mr. Steve Asbell. Frank's Army Fights on!

As always, lend your considerable support to the man and go visit his own websites and find out what it's all about. Remember, every video made for the this campaign is an indispensable way of reaching out to a potential new campaigner.

Another very enjoyable video review and what an episode to choose. I think SDOM is a really mixed bag. On the one hand it is shows just how fine an actress young Brittany was and as far as a character study it is a superb work, even giving Jordan a chance to interact with Emma for the first time (and be perfectly sulky when doing so.)

Unfortunately it seems they tacked on all sorts of strange ideas that never really enrich or further the story. Glass eyes, remote viewing, a nod to Legion and so on all seem 'inserted' rather than owing to the narrative.

That said, a great episode over all and some nice FX work let us glimpse Lucy for what would be the last time.

So you wish you'd had a pound for everyone who asks what the episode title means right? Have another, what does it mean

I like this episode, a lot, but I love Jordan Black who really became the perfect foil for Frank in S3. This and Borrowed Time show how awesome she was at such a young age. Didn't she win an award for Millennium? I seem to think she did ☺ ☺ ☺

Very nice review and I really love the in-film clips and graphics. I would love to know how you do it.

First, I must say thank you to DiRT for sharing his review of this episode. Saturn Dreaming of Mercury is one of those episodes that makes you ponder Jordans future. In Midnight of the Century, Frank learns of his mothers gift and how it affected her and her life when he was a child and how her gift and Franks parallel each others with regards to their family life. The viewer is let in on the fact that Jordan has the ability and can use it to see the fetches. I believe it is the first episode that demonstrates Jordans abilities.

Saturn Dreaming of Mercury is a wonderful episode and definitely highlights Jordans abilities. She is a very talented actress and yes, she is still persuing an acting career. I took it that Jordan knew it was the child but also thought it was the father. She knew something was amiss and also knew Frank would be affected by it.

It's also one of those episodes that makes you want to scream at Emma Hollis...you see the truth, believe it. It makes you see Emma as Scully. She questions Frank but refuses to believe.

As for Lucas/Lucy and Legion...don't let Laura from Spooktalkular hear that people with "L" names should not be trusted...altho, she might like that with Halloween being just around the corner.

After all is said and done, I really enjoyed this episode as well as DiRT's review of it. The only part of the episode that I question because I do not yet have a complete comprehension of it is what about those glass eyes? Whose are they and why do they allow us, the viewer, to see inside the horror that is to be.

As for the title and it's description, we, the viewers, are left to decide what it means to us. I agree with DiRT on that aspect.

Thanks again for a great review. Let's keep those postcards rolling. Operation:Fox must continue at all costs!

Do you get money for every time anyone asks you what the glass eyes were all about? Never quite fathomed that. In fact, never even remotely fathomed that at all.

A very good review. I tend to find myself agreeing with DiRT all the time of late. Great minds think alike I guess.

Well I might be able to help you guys out with the title at least. The mystery is solved. It comes from the book "Six Memos For The Next Millennium" By Italo Calvino.

In the book Italo Calvino wrote, ‘I am a Saturn who dreams of being a Mercury, and everything I write reflects these two impulses,’ he says. Saturn is the slow worker, the one who can build a coin collection and label all the envelopes in a neat script, the one who will rewrite a paragraph eleven times to get the rhythm right. Saturn can finish a four hundred page book. But he tends to get depressed if that is all he does; he needs regular Mercurial insight to give him something delicious to work on.'

The collection of glass eyes seems merely to serve the description above in that Saturn is a collector, one who who will build, hoard and compile collections obsessively.

Mark,
You obviously resolved the two questions wonderfully.

I now have a lot more insight into the meaning of the title as well as the eyeballs.

Thank you for that. I appreciate it.

Yes, I have to agree with Paul, great minds think alike.

I agree that we see that Jordan has abilities in Midnight of the Century, but this episode shows her trying to use it and understand it.

And they eyes didn't really stand out to me as much of anything special other than a creepy thing to collect.

Great review as always Dirt. Obviously years of doing this sort of thing has given you the opportunity to hone the craft to a fine art. Additional thanks to those of you who explained the title of this episode. It's the only one I have never understood despite many hours labouring away with Google.

A great episode when all said and done and one I enjoy revisiting every now and again.

I've always thought and believed that Frank Black had a conversation with Jordan about "the gift" on their walk in the end of the episode Sacrament, in season 1.

It's an interesting episode, but in my opinion, a bit of a mixed bag, it wasn't perfectly sown together somehow.

But I do like those eyes, damn creepy.

I didn't even think about the title and trying to understand it. There are far worse obscure titles in season 3 though...

Gotta love the boy's laughter near the end.

But this is by no means a bad episode, just a bit flawed.
