Time once again for another Millennium music video courtesy of our video guru Josef. Each and every week Josef locks himself away in The Spotnitz Sanitarium and creates another musical montage in the hope that we can reach another potential campaigner via the power of Youtube and I know you guys have come to enjoy his work and look forward to it. You can help this campaign by joining Josef and making a video of your own. It needn't be something as complex as a music video, a simple recording of yourself talking about support for this campaign is all we need. Give it some thought.
This week turn our attention to Season Two's episode two part extravaganza, Owls and Roosters. Civil unrest is abound at the very heart of the episode as two of the factions of The Millennium Group, the theological Owls and the secular Roosters, fight for supremacy in the midst of the discovery of the The True Cross. Millennium group members, Frank Black and Lara Means find themselves caught in a struggle as the very existence of The Millennium Group is threatened by the nefarious Odessa.
An epic two-parter needs an epic musical treatment right? Well it has one. Sit back and enjoy these seven minutes and more dedicated to one of the darkest eras The Millennium Group was to face.
So don't be shy. Let Josef know what you think of his latest creation and tell us what you think about the episodes in questions. Are they really as epic as I have made them out to be or did all the civil unrest leave you, well, a little restless. We want to know your thoughts so please do leave us a few comments as we really enjoy hearing from all you good people.
As promised, each music new release from Josef will be accompanied by a postcard that we urge you to send to Steve Asbell at 20th Century Fox. Making 20th Century Fox aware that we are here to stay and active in our support of a Millennium Movie is a vital way you can help this campaign achieve its ends. We are regularly asked what is the best way to help this campaign and there is no finer way than sending this postcard. The only way we can bring this show back is to make some noise and continue making that noise. That's how we will bring Frank Black back.
Mark

You know, I always says this, but BRILLIANT postcard. Just how you connected the titles of the two episodes with the "S" and I love the look of those white background shapes, sort of like those old posters for Hitchcock films, sublime.
I want to give you guys some info on the genesis for this video, as I think it's quite interesting how I got there.
I found this track, because I gave this album to a friend of mine for his birthday.
I really like the first track, I popped it in a CD player when we were at his house, and I demanded to get it from him and copy the disc. I returned the CD the day after, unlike some people don't when they give someone a CD and borrow it.
But this was track number 5 which I didn't listen to nearly as often as tracks number 1, 2 and 9.
I was listening to this album a lot during a few days on my iShuffle at work and it hit me, this beginning has this sort of Eastern Europe quality, not unlike Mark Snow's score in the beginning of Owls. I thought it would be perfect for that scene.
And later I thought this later bit where the music slows down and starts to escalate be perfect to Frank Black and his gun. That was exactly how I envisioned it.
But I had to condense it and make sense of it, no mean feat. but it was doable. I almost thought 7 minutes weren't gonna be enough. I could have deleted the shoot-out at the start, but then I wouldn't have that great moment when he says it's the blood of Christ, the music goes full on over that.
And I thought I would have to cut the Frank Black shoot-out scene, but I didn't, it lined up pretty much perfectly, with just minor edits. I inserted that close up shot of FB with his glasses so when he opened the drawer with his gun, that would be in sync with the music. The rest was spot on without me doing anything, I just cut when it all went to hell, when the shoot out started.
There are moments where I cut to the beat, and most of the video is cut cut cut! I have no time and too much material. I ripped off so many scenes from the DVDs, you sometimes don't know what you're gonna use or do once you lock the track down in the video editor program, then the fun starts.
A quick overview:
I was editing it very much to the music up until they dig up the cross. Then I was just condensing it so I could have other scenes as well (as that teaser was like 4 minutes in the actual episode).
And I made sure that when Le Fur went through the gate that's where the music changes. And again, condensing.
And when when the car turns to pass Johnston's car, that's when the music changes.
I made sure the explosion of the car was roughly at that moment, otherwise, condensing.
And I told you about the FB scene, and just that when The Elder speaks to Watts, music changes.
And the explosion at the end was at that moment of the music, and it just happened to fit with the flames and when he took of his ski mask. And since there was still some left after that shot, I put Frank at the computer to round things out.
And because of this revelation of using this track for this music video, I really like this song now. :D
Okay, I'll shut up now, LOL!
Cheers from Iceland!

★☆★☆Well I turn my back for a few seconds and this is what happens LOL★☆★☆ Well I've been busy with school these past few weeks so sorry y'all for not posting but I checked you out today and found y'all keeping up the hard work. Awesome video man, it really brings home how epic (yes epic) Owls and Roosters was. I didn't quite understand it when I first watched it. I wasn't sure why Lara was fired from the Group or what Odessa were really up to so I think it takes a few viewings for it all to make sense.
♥♥I like the postcard too much. I want a big one for my dorm. Just off to watch the video again. Well done to y'all.♥♥
Dare I say it? Best one yet? Looking at that description above I am blown away by how much work goes in to these. You should take a bow dude.
Bring back 'Millennium'! Awesome show, we all miss Frank Black very much
Cracking video Josef. Well done and by far the best postcard, simply beautiful. I sent a batch on Friday and will try to get another batch done before Christmas although I am thinking of sending a Christmas card as well but I guess everything helps right?
Stick Owls and Roosters on the big screen and there's you Millennium Movie folks. Add a bigger budget and you home to roost. Superb stuff.
Strange you should mention the budget Eric but Season Two was given a much smaller budget to work with than Season One (Fox wouldn't pump the same amount of money in a second time as the ratings were declining) which makes episodes like Owls and Roosters all the more ambitious.
I do wonder, however, that if they went along those lines for a Movie it could well be that Dan Brown has stolen their thunder for those types of stories on the big screen despite the fact that Millennium got there first (as always).
Amazing vid... Owls & Roosters is one of my favorite two-parters of the entire series. :)
It's time to bring Frank back.
A quality music video for the two-parter Owls and Roosters. I really liked the story and the direction the show was going at this point.
I agree with Foxywonder. Josef, or any of you guys, could you explain why Lara Means was jettisoned from the Group. I've never truly understood that part either? Awesome video Josef. Absolutely loved it.
Girls, that part was explained twice, visually and verbally.
At the hospital, when they were doing the autopsy on Johnston, Peter Watts is going over his belongings and discovers Lara Means name in his schedule book. Watts suspects Lara to be working with the other side, the Owls.
That's why.
And Lara came to the same conclusion, as to why Watts excused her from the Millennium Group, when they were at Frank Black's house when they were talking with The Old Man.
There were other things that confused me, and I'm not sure what's the answer.
Why were these guys outside Frank's house? Were they Group members? Why did they shoot at him?
I know the Group maybe suspected Frank working with Odessa, but even the Group didn't know what the hell was going on...well...maybe except The Elder.
I know they discussed some of it in the scene between The Elder and Watts, but even they didn't know the whole story regarding that shoot-out.
That bothered me, and why did the henchman had to travel back from the US to his master, to marvel at the Cross, when he had to go to the US again? Makes no sense, even though the 2 episodes happen over a period of a week or so.
OOOOOOOH I loved the music in this one Josef would like to hear more! :) Not a big fan of Owls and Roosters but a big fan of you Josef and your videos, maybe you should shoot the Millennium movie! :)
and Mark, these postcards!!!! Very trippy stuff, love them and if I could print them out I would and keep one stack for myself and one stack I would mail in.. These are very lovely artwork and I would hang them up on my walls and decorate with them.. You are very Andy Warhol!!! :)
